Ian Toh

Ian Toh is a musician and entrepreneur from Singapore.

Educated in music since young, Ian Toh first took part in the local music scene at the age of 17 with his band Flybar.

Within a year of its birth, Flybar participated and won the Singaporean leg of World Battle of the Bands, representing Singapore in the world finals which took place in Hong Kong.

Following up their success with a debut album, Flybar could be heard over the radio airwaves through the local stations.

In 2010, Ian Toh founded Thunder Rock School with his partners and music scene legend Leonard Soosay.

With its goal to nurture the music scene, Thunder Rock School has educated and produced many young musicians in Singapore, adding to the vibrancy of the music scene.

Armed with its flagship event, Thunder Band Slam, Ian Toh has discovered young talents who have produced albums and EP under his tutelage. In addition to this, Ian headed the Noise Music Mentorship 2017 as well as 2018 and has spent years coming up with curriculum for various music education associations. 

He is also an educator, specialising in managing students and maximising learning opportunities in diverse classroom settings, be it lectures, masterclasses or workshops.

With his comprehensive background in performance and music composition and arranging, 15 years as a performer in a variety of bands and ensembles, Ian Toh seeks to bring Thunder Rock School to become on of the best music schools in Singapore.
